book of colour and culture by john gage, with colourful geometric pattern

Color and Culture: Practice and Meaning from Antiquity to Abstraction. Color is fundamental to life and art yet so diverse that it has seldom been studied in a comprehensive way. This ground-breaking analysis of color in Western culture from the ancient Greeks to the late twentieth century is a John Gage triumph.

I’m a total nerd when it comes to design, design theory, colours, colour theory, so I just had to get this book, ‘Colour and Culture’, by John Gage.

Of course reading it, just wasn’t enough, so I decided to draw it out. It did take me a while, but I absolutely loved doing it. It was like doing embroidery samplers, to practice embroidery, only I was doing it with pencil and pen.
